Portret geschilderd op basis van eenvoudige zwart/wit foto uit een tijdschrift. Ik was getroffen door de uitdrukking op het gezicht van de dame en de compositie. De foto dient nu als eenvoudige referentie waarmee ik vrijelijk aan de slag ga. De vreugde van het experiment, het combineren van kleuren, de toevalligheid van de verftoets, doen de rest. Niets zo fascinerend!

Portrait painted from a simple black and white photo from a magazine. I was intrigued by the expression on the lady's face and the composition. The photo serves as a simple reference. Now I get started freely. The joy of the experiment, the combination of colors, the coincidence of the brushstrokes, do the rest. Nothing more fascinating!

Het is zo'n plezierige zoektocht om telkens opnieuw de verf te vinden en de mengsels te maken, die kunnen uitmonden in een evenwichtig gelaat. Je weet immers nooit waar je uitkomt. Ik hou van het experiment.
It is such a pleasant quest to find the paint again and again and to make the mixtures that can result in a balanced face. After all, you never know where you will end up. I like the experiment.
